Construction of weighing stations in Iraq (South of
Iraq)
Road works and road safety was one of our company’s priority functions and the reasons
behind us seeking works and jobs that deal with road safety is that the damages that
are caused to roads due to misuse and unconstrained heavy loads will lead to serious
damages to roads that will affect people’s lives and safety, and causes a lot of financial
and economic losses to the communities and the country. The province of Basrah is
Iraq’s only access to the sea and from which Iraq receives and exports all type of goods,
this will certainly lead to the critical damage to road networks in the province due to the
uncontrolled weights and loads of the vehicles using this network. The weighing stations
therefore have been constructed in order to place constrains and put a control to the loads
subjected on the road network.
Sections has executed 21 weighing stations on five different Iraqi southern provinces.
The works of the weighing stations included civil construction tasks in addition to special
technical works that involved the supply and installation of weighing instruments and
road safety features and road furniture such as sign boards, guardrails and road paintings
in addition to a lot of specialized technical and mechanical activities.
Moreover, the company did a training program to the client, staff and employees at
the HQ of the weighing manufacturing and supply company (CW) in the UK to teach
the future weighing stations operators on how to operate and maintain this modern and
advanced system.
